I'm Taking Off!

Tomorrow I am leaving this...

...and going to this...

...AND THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't even contain my excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!

Resolutions!

It's that time of year again. Time to make my resolutions for 2011. Funny enough they are, for the most part, the same as last year.

1. Continue to chip at my debt. I'm hoping this year I will get over the hump and be on the downward end of paying off.

2. Lose weight! I have set a reasonable goal weight and intend to reach it! I really wish I was one of those people that could lose weight easily. It has been a constant struggle throughout my life.

3. Run more 5Ks. I ran my first one this year and I hope to run more and build myself up to a 10K.

4. Continue to explore Utah. More hiking, take some trips to see the parks, etc, etc...

5. Work on my self esteem and self worth. For me, this will be a lifelong resolution.

Adventures in Sewing Part 2

The reveal

Since I've heard from those of of you who got these gifts, it's time to reveal what I made... APRONS. Hopefully I'll be able to make something more challenging next time! On the other hand, sewing could be just one of those fleeting hobbies that I tend to pick up never to be seen again. Only time will tell.

Catcher in the Rye

I know this book is a classic but I had the hardest time getting through it. I think it took me at least 3 months to get through the 200 pages. To me, Holden Caufield was just a brat that needed a whooping or two. Sorry J.D... my wee mind just didn't get it.

Merry Christmas!

I'm going to be a Scrooge and say thank God that Christmas is over! I had a great time with my family as always but I just wasn't in the spirit this year. I'm ready for a new year and now that Christmas is over, the new year is just around the corner. Hope your holidays were special!

Reason #437 Why I Can't Wait to Buy a Home

The Laundromat.

Where today there is an elderly gentleman doing lunges, a woman on her phone with the cell phone company who must have a terrible case of TB because in between yells she sounds like she is coughing up lung tissue, a man who is washing ALL is his clothes including the ones he's wearing and me watching my laundry a wishing it would hurry the hell up.

Oh... I forgot about the lady that polished off a 6 pack of diet coke in an hour and a half.

Mama the Cookie Drill Sargeant

Maam, yes Maam! Every year my Mom and I do lots of baking as gifts for friends. Over the years I have realized that my Mom is really ambitious when it comes to picking the menu. This year was definitely no exception. I went the route of the chex mix for my friends. It's easy and pretty darn yummy. Mom, on the other hand, decided to out do every other year that we've made cookies. After baking for 7 hours these are the creations...

If I never see a cookie again it will be too soon!

Adventures In Sewing

I swear I have ADD when it comes to a lot of things. My hobbies being one of those things. I'll pick up a new hobby and I will basically exhaust it until I can't even think about doing it again. Every Christmas I try to think of something creative to make for gifts. One year it was cards, another year stockings, this year I decided to venture into sewing. I can count on maybe one hand how many times I have sat behind a sewing machine. Something inside of me decided it was something I wanted to challenge myself with. I can't give away what it is that I am sewing because that takes away the element of surprise for those of you getting these gifts but I decided to pick something super easy to start out with. The funny thing is the first one I made was pretty crappy (sorry to that person who is getting it, I promise I'll make a new one if it happens to disintegrate at first touch) and I progessively got better the more I made. I'm going to start attempting to alter my own clothes. We'll see how that goes. I would love to make my own clothes someday! Maybe one day I'll get my own machine instead of using my mom's!

I'm back!

Lots has happened this year and, to be honest with you, most of it has been too personal to blog about. Health scares and surgery, relationships starting, relationships ending, family issues, work issues, etc, etc... To sum it up, it has been a crazy year and sometimes I feel like I'm just fighting to keep my head above water. Since I've been gone I thought I would post a few pics from the year:

Hopefully by picking back up the things I enjoy doing (ie a new blog) I'll be able to find myself again and be stronger and maybe even learn a thing or two. Here's to 2011! I'm excited to start a new year!
